Bada
Also known as the Bara and the Bendre, the Bada is commonly found in Burkina Faso. It is made from a large whole gourd (or two dried halves sewn together).
The top third is cut off and covered in a goatskin, attached with nylon cord in a similar way to the Djembe drum. A small hole is sometimes cut out of the bottom of the Bada to allow more sound to resonate from within the gourd.
The Bada can be played with bare hands or with sticks, and creates a beautiful, clear sound. Quieter and lighter than the traditional hand drum, the Bada is a great, unique alternative to the Djembe. Perfect for the beach and for cranky neighbours!
